Blood Services

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Thanks to our generous blood donors, this year we collected 13,412 units of blood through 309 blood drives held in our area and our Red Cross Blood Donor Center located in Princeton. You can make both platelet and whole blood donations at our Blood Donor Center. To make an appointment, or to find a blood drive location near you:
Call 800-GIVE-LIFE or visit www.pleasegiveblood.org
Our Volunteers...
Greet donors, assist with registration, serve refreshments, and ensure donors feel well before leaving.

Health & Safety Services

From First Aid, CPR, AED and Babysitter training to Swimming and Lifeguarding, Red Cross programs help people lead safer and healthier lives. Our chapter also offers Pet First Aid courses. This year 52,319 people learned lifesaving skills through classes offered by the chapter.
Our Volunteers...
Train and become certified to teach lifesaving skills to prevent or respond to an emergency.

Emergency Services

Disaster Relief and Community Education
When a disaster threatens or strikes, the Red Cross is there. This year we responded to 95 disasters in our community, mostly residential fires. We helped 577 affected individuals in 188 families with emergency food, shelter and supplies. Because being prepared can make your family and community safer and minimize injury and destruction, we educated 8,465 participants through disaster preparedness presentations in our community.
Our Volunteers...
Provide assistance at the scene to neighbors affected by disasters. Volunteers also play a major role in feeding and sheltering victims of large disasters, and help assess the damage.

International Services
Through our international tracing program, we help local families find relatives with whom they have lost contact because of a natural disaster, war or internal conflict. This year, we reconnected 8 families with loved ones abroad.

Service to the Armed Forces
The Red Cross facilitates communication between those serving in the Armed Forces and their families. Our worldwide network reaches service members wherever they are to notify them of a birth, death or illness. This year, we connected 211 military families with their service members. We also support activities of the military that affect the health, welfare and morale of service members. This year we visited 575 veterans in hospitals, and more than 3,375 military members received comfort items.
Our Volunteers...
Assist by sending and receiving emergency messages to members of the military and their families. Volunteers also send “comforts of home” packages to military members serving overseas, visit veterans hospitals and attend military homecomings and special events.

Community Services

Home Delivered Meals Program
Our Mercer County Meals on Wheels and Meals at Home programs deliver warm, nutritious meals to those that are homebound and unable to prepare meals for themselves. This year, we brought 48,777 meals to 247 clients.
Our Volunteers...
Provide meals and daily contact to the homebound and elderly, helping them to maintain independent living.

Youth Services
This year 1,437 young people volunteered in Red Cross Clubs in schools throughout our area, learning about and providing training for disaster preparedness, first aid and emergency response while developing leadership skills, self-esteem and confidence.
Our Volunteers...
Work on issues and lead meaningful projects that address needs in our community.
