President James Harton and Silvina Gomez of the company’s pharmaceutical services division. The donation represents employee contributions and the match by Rhodia, Inc. of Cranbury, New Jersey, to American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts.

PRINCETON, NJ, January 25, 2006 – Contributions from employees of specialty chemical producer Rhodia Inc. of Cranbury were matched by the company to aid hurricane relief efforts of the American Red Cross. Kevin Sullivan, chief executive officer of the American Red Cross of Central New Jersey, accepted the $28,180 check from Rhodia Inc. President James Harton and Silvina Gomez of the company’s pharmaceutical services division last week.

A native of New Orleans, Gomez was visiting her family when Hurricane Katrina struck. She evacuated to Dallas with her mother; they later returned together to New Jersey where her mother has decided to remain.

Gomez explained, “After experiencing the first-hand impacts of Katrina, I know how much the New Orleans community needed the support of the Red Cross. I’m proud of the contributions from my coworkers in Cranbury, in the Gulf and at many Rhodia locations across the country.”

Rhodia operates four manufacturing sites in the Gulf region, including Baton Rouge, La.; and in Houston, Baytown and Freeport, TX. Plant operations were temporarily interrupted by the storms but the plants incurred only minor damage.

Harton noted that Rhodia’s employees in the Gulf region “opened their homes and their hearts” to those displaced from New Orleans. “Our Gulf employees volunteered countless hours of their personal time to assist in shelters, schools and other emergency services. And their generosity was supported by the financial generosity of our workers in Cranbury and from our other facilities across the country who wanted to help their coworkers’ communities in the Gulf.”
