Programs

The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, that provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.  We have been providing much-needed, caring and relevant services to the community for more than 100 years.

Emergency Services

"The American Red Cross responds to disasters such as hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, and fires, or other situations that cause human suffering or create human needs that those affected cannot alleviate without assistance."  Disaster assistance is immediate and provided to help individuals and families begin to recover.

Service to Military Families

The American Red Cross assists members of the military and their families by sending and receiving emergency messages. A worldwide communications network operates 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, sending messages regarding death or serious illness of a family member, the birth of a child, or other family emergency.

Health and Safety Services

The American Red Cross teaches people the lifesaving skills necessary in an emergency, such as CPR, First Aid, water safety and training in automated external defibrillation (AED). Courses are flexible and age appropriate.

Blood Services

Every minute of every day, someone needs blood. The American Red Cross provides over half the nation's blood supply and is committed to making the blood as safe as possible. Blood drives are conducted throughout the area thanks to businesses, schools, churches and other community groups.

Elderly Services
As a means to allowing our elderly and disabled citizens to live in their own homes, safely and independently, the American Red Cross provides a transportation and meals program. Our Transportation program helps access much-needed medical care by transporting individuals to doctor's appointments, chemotherapy and dialysis. Our home-delivered meals programs allow individuals who are homebound to receive hot nutritious meals.

Youth Services

The American Red Cross offers opportunities for youth to become involved in supporting their communities. These opportunities help to develop their leadership skills, build self-esteem, and confidence. Youth volunteers respond to disasters, recruit blood donors, deliver meals, and teach safety education to their peers and younger children. Safety courses, which are age appropriate, are also available.
